Now that the holidays are in full swing, Pittsburgh has plenty to offer revelers of all ages, including family-friendly New Year’s Eve celebrations, one of the country’s largest comic cons and special events downtown for the holidays. We hope you enjoy our roundup of top events for the Steel City this month and have a fantastic holiday season!

Best of the Burgh-Walk the Burgh Tours / Thru Dec. 31
Explore downtown Pittsburgh on foot, including iconic cultural buildings and historical landmarks, as well as beautiful squares and stunning public art. This two-hour child-friendly tour highlights the best of the Burgh, but it also brings hidden details and often-overlooked gems to light. Be ready to experience wide colorful avenues and tiny secretive alleyways alike as you discover what is truly unique about Pittsburgh. At 3 p.m. every Friday, Saturday and Sunday through Dec. 31.

Downtown Pittsburgh for the Holidays / Thru Dec. 23
The vibrant downtown area of Pittsburgh is brimming with events for the holiday season, including the 5th Annual People’s Gas Holiday Market inspired by the original German Christkindlmarkts; free Holly Trolley and horse drawn carriage rides; the MassMutual Pittsburgh Ice Rink; free activities for children of all ages and much more!

Highmark First Night Pittsburgh / Dec. 31
Presented by the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust, Highmark First Nigh Pittsburgh is the Steel City’s best arts-focused New Year’s Eve celebration. Spanning six hours on Dec. 31, the event takes place throughout downtown’s much-loved 14-block Cultural District in theaters, galleries and other spaces, including outdoor performance stages, with something for the whole family. Come see acclaimed national artists and join the Burgh’s thriving artist community to ring in the New Year in true Pittsburgh style! $10 per person. Kids ages 5 and under admitted free.

Holiday mART / thru Dec. 11
If you’re planning to shop local for the holidays this year, the Sweetwater Center for the Arts has you covered! The much anticipated Holiday mART features creative and unique gifts from an impressive list of local, regional and national artists. Items include jewelry, ceramics, glass and fiber art, two-dimensional pieces and much more, with gifts sure to suit every style and budget. Open Mon-Fri 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Santa Visits at Phipps Conservatory / Thru Dec. 23
Take your little ones to see Santa Claus and get into the spirit of the season as you take a stroll through Phipps Conservatory from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Saturday and Sunday through Dec. 18, with extended hours Dec. 19-23. Festive photo-ops available for just the kids or the entire family.

Steel City Con / Dec. 9-11
As the exclusive comic con of the Monroeville Convention Center, Steel City Con is now celebrating 25 years as one of the largest comic cons in the U.S. and features more than 100,000 square feet of convention space with more than 750 vendor tables, an extensive artist alley and a variety of celeb guests. Meet TV and film personalities, celeb photo ops and more, or take part in the Steel City Con’s cosplay, trivia or costume contests. Admission is $20 at the door.
