Although the holidays might be over, the new year is just getting started and 2017 promises to bring plenty of excitement to the Derby City. Here’s a roundup of our top events in and around Louisville for January 2017:
Republic Bank First Friday Hop / Jan. 6, 5-11 p.m.
Come downtown and visit the Main St. and Market St. corridor all the way to South Fourth St. on the first Friday of the month to enjoy the Republic Bank First Friday Hop event, which includes downtown art galleries, retailers and restaurants, which are open extended hours to offer a wide variety of specials and discounts during the event.
The Monarchs at Derby Dinner Playhouse / Jan. 6, 6 p.m.
Come enjoy a fabulous meal and watch one of Kentuckiana’s most popular rock n’ roll bands perform a special show that will bring back memories of the sock hops and teen dances of the 1960’s.
The Louisville Orchestra: Music of David Bowie / Jan. 7, 8 p.m.
Come watch the Louisville Orchestra perform the music of David Bowie, from “Ziggy Stardust” to his more hard rock tunes and even electronica at the Kentucky Center for the Arts – Bomhard Theater.
BrickUniverse LEGO® Fan Expo / Jan. 8, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
LEGO® fans of all ages will gather to meet professional artists and view inspiring exhibits at the Kentucky Exposition Center. Seminars and games will also be offered throughout the day and thousands of bricks will be available to build and play with. Vendors also on hand selling toys, bricks and mini-figures.
Run for your Wife at Derby Dinner Playhouse / Jan. 11, 6 p.m.
Instead of dinner AND a movie, how about dinner while you watch a live show? The highly acclaimed Derby Dinner Playhouse will present this fast-paced witty comedy about a cab driver who is quite ordinary… EXCEPT for the fact that he has two wives!
B3 Bash: A Celebration of Bacon, Bourbon & Beer to Benefit Kosair Charities / Jan. 21, 6-11 p.m.
Come out and celebrate bacon, bourbon and beer to benefit Kosair Charities. The event will feature a silent auction, live music and plenty of the 3 B’s – bacon, bourbon and beer! Tickets are all-inclusive and space is limited. Admission is $80 per person.
Kentucky Science Center, Science with a Twist: Ascend / Jan. 21, 7-11 p.m.
As the annual major fundraising event for the Kentucky Science Center, this is a different type of gala, featuring adventure instead of cocktail attire and sneakers over stuffiness. General admission $100. Ages 21 and up.
Louisville Boat, RV and Sportshow / Jan. 25-29
This annual five-day event turns the Kentucky Exposition Center into a one-stop shop for outdoor enthusiasts, with everything you need for boating, fishing, camping and RVing under one roof. Board boats for every lifestyle and budget while you explore the newest RVs and browse the latest equipment from a wide variety of outfitters.
