Although the countryside in Bullitt County is definitely gorgeous, venturing about 10 minutes past the southern edge of Metro Louisville offers much more than just a pretty view. Here, wine connoisseurs will thrill to the superb taste and quality of the wine that is made right here in Kentucky.

Brooks Hill Winery
Situated atop Brooks Hill, a knob that rises several hundred feet above the convergence of Bullitt and Jefferson Counties, Brooks Hill Winery has more than just an impressive vista – it has amazing wine sure to please the discerning palate of any self-respecting oenophile. Known locally as “the little winery up the hill,” Brooks Hill was founded in 2006 and affords visitors the opportunity to experience a vineyard as it evolves from the earliest stages. Situated just five miles south of Metro Louisville, all wines are made on site and visitors are welcome to bring a picnic lunch to enjoy as they walk through the vineyard or sip wines on the patio. Forest Edge Winery
Situated on Hwy. 249 not far from the Bernheim Arboretum and Research Forest and the iconic Jim Beam American Stillhouse, Forest Edge Winery is the most modern of the four Bullitt County wineries and boasts a large wine bar that can accommodate a sizeable crowd. The winery also has a nice-sized tasting room, as well as a stylish retail section. The winery was started in 2006 and its fantastic wine, along with its position at the gateway to the Kentucky Bourbon Trail, has helped this family-friendly Bullitt County winery become a favorite among visitors and locals alike. Located in Mt. Washington, KY, just off Highway 44, MillaNova Winery is the largest of these Kentucky wineries and is situated just 7 miles northeast of Shepherdsville; about 28 miles southeast of downtown Louisville. The winery is child and pet-friendly, with a large tasting room that is open daily for wine tastings and a unique setting that includes panoramic views of the 22-acre vineyard from a 50’ x 60’ covered pavilion. Wight-Meyer Vineyards & Winery
As Bullitt County’s oldest existing vineyard and winery, Wight-Meyer Vineyard & Winery was started in 1996 and offers award-winning Kentucky wines. Family owned and operated, the vineyard is located just 10 minutes from MillaNova and is hidden behind an impressive stand of pines in a bucolic setting just outside of Shepherdsville.
