How did you develop your love of cooking?
Growing up Latino, my Mother and sisters always found a reason to cook a feast. I have so many memories of these unique flavors. These flavors developed my love for food and cooking before I even knew what a chef was.
How did you end up in or choose to work in Louisville?
I met a girl from Kentucky. I think it was my crush on Daisy Duke from the Dukes of Hazzard!
What is your favorite thing about cooking?
Being able to use the creative part of my brain and to watch the joy that food brings people.
What is your favorite thing about Louisville?
Louisville is a big city with the charm of a small town. It’s a great place to live, work and play.
Your thoughts on the future of Louisville’s foodie scene?
I think the food scene is exploding right now, and although it is great for Louisville I don’t know that this kind of growth is sustainable long term. It is great to see the variety of restaurants but I think each one will have to push the envelope and be creative to attract customers in such a saturated restaurant community.
